Announcing candidacies for the Athene election are primarily done through this forum. You announce your candidacy by starting a new discussion on this site (more detailed instructions below). Please note that volunteer positions at Athene last for a whole calendar year (at least), so you should be available for the entire 2025 to volunteer. To begin, check whether the position of interest is filled in the election or in the post-election process. There is a mention under the role description, if the role is filled during the with a separate post-election applications.
It is also possible to announce a candidacy at the election meeting on 6 November 2024, but please take into account the arrangements: the candidate's introductions and audience questions are focused on the election cafe, the election meeting introduction should be brief and the main focus is on voting.
If the position is filled in the election, announce candidacy on the forum
Create an account on the forum and log in.
Select the correct category from the left menu. Each board position has its own subcategory, while official positions are grouped slightly by sector. The subheading on the category page lists all the official positions that can be nominated in that category.
Create a new chain and give it a descriptive title containing your full name (e.g. "Jane Doe is running for International Advisor").
Write your description in the message, which can be short or more thorough. You can attach pictures. You can also make a separate election page, as in previous years, and link it to the opening message.
You shouldn't be nervous about creating an introductory post, and even a short presentation will suffice especially when applying for official positions.
Other guild members in the thread can ask you questions and comments. So you should follow your own thread!
If the position is filled in the post-election process
You don't have to announce candidacy on the election forum. The instructions on how to apply are posted after the election meeting.
